Where have all the wrinkles gone?

Exposed! How aging rock legends stay looking so young
GLOBE, December 21, 2009

WE used to call them wrinkly rockers, but these music legends now look as smooth as Knights in White Satin!

The aging stars came together for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 25th Anniversary Concert and appeared to have turned back time with a little help from their cosmetic surgeon friends, say experts.

GLOBE asked top cosmetic surgeons Dr. Richard Fleming of Beverly Hills, Pittsburgh University’s Dr. Dennis Hurwitz, New Jersey’s Dr. Brian Glatt, Dr. Richard Chafoo of La Jolla, Calif., and Florida’s Dr. Michael Salzhauer to study these startling photos taken at the event in New York’s Madison Square Garden. Here, they reveal the secrets of the celeb’s eternally youthful looks.

The 69-year-old Tears of a Clown singer may now be shedding his own tears over his funny face-lift! “Unfortunately, he hasn’t been left with a natural appearance,” says Dr. Glatt. Experts note Robinson has probably had more than $20,000 worth of cosmetic work, not including chemical peels to lighten his skin and dental veneers.

Goodness, gracious, the 74-year-old rock pioneer has used cosmetic surgery, observes Fleming. “It seems he’s had his upper eyelids done at an estimated cost of $4,000 and had about $800 worth of Botox or some other injectable into his forehead,” says the expert. “At this point, I’d encourage him to get a face-lift and neck-lift.”

The First Cut hasn’t been the deepest for the Eurythmics singer, 54! “I don’t notice any signs of plastic surgery aside from a possible eye-lift for $3,000 to $4,000,” says Dr. Michael Salzhauer. “But she definitely needs a face-lift and neck-lift as soon as possible.”

The 61-year-old Doctor My Eyes singer has taken the lyrics to heart! “It appears he’s had eyelid surgery as well as a full face-lift for a total cost of about $25,000,” points out Dr. Richard Chaffoo. “He appears very natural.”

The Wanderer singer, 70, gets around to cosmetic surgeons, says Dr. Fleming. “I can see an incision under his chin, which could be a telltale sign of a face-lift and neck-lift,” notes the medic, who puts the tab at about $20,000 with another $7,000 for eyelid work. “Overall, he looks good.”

She’s the Rebel in our group of old-timer rock and rollers because the experts say Love has never had any work done – yet she still looks terrific! The 71-year-old songbird was one of star-maker Phil Spector’s prodigies and sang The Crystals’ No. 1 hit He’s a Rebel.

The Boss is back and looking Born to Botox! Dr. Fleming believes the 60-year-old superstar has undergone a $12,000 eye-lift and $1,000 worth of Botox injections. “I like the look,” says Fleming. “It’s not perfect, but Springsteen isn’t a pretty boy anyway. It’s conservative and well done.”

The former Black Sabbath front man, 61, seems to have had a $30,000 face-lift, $2,500 cheek implants, and up to $30,000 worth of dental veneers, say Dr. Hurwitz and Dr. Glatt. “There is dramatic improvement, declares Hurwitz.”
