Blood Sugar Control and Wound Healing

Consistently high blood glucose affects the microcirculation of blood flow and decreases the amount of oxygen delivered to the wound. This is especially important for patients who have diabetes since stable blood sugar levels will help surgical wounds heal faster.
Here is a list of foods to avoid:
- Processed sugar such as cakes, candy, pastries, cookies, soda, juice, and ice cream
- Refined starch such as white bread and bagels
- Alcoholic beverages
- Potatoes
- White pasta

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED:
- 1 medium size banana
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 1 medium size apple
- 3 pitted Medjool dates
- 1 tbsp of almond butter
- 1 cup of oat milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Blend ingredients together until smooth and creamy
- Recommended daily for two weeks pre and post surgery
