Fleming/Mayer Flap & Nose – Tyler

When I was in high school, people would ask me if I knew I was losing my hair – as though it wasn’t obvious to me! I was already very self-conscious of the fact that I was going bald but this constant reminder made me frantic to find a solution. By the time I went to college – although I consider myself very self-confident, I thought I would never have another girlfriend in my life! I liked the way I looked with hair. My self-image was with a full head of hair. However, the temporary hair systems wouldn’t work. I was afraid that during college wrestling or when we were simply rough housing, the hair piece would get ripped off. Or while swimming, it would get waterlogged. At the time, I thought I was the only person feeling this way.

When I met Dr. Fleming and we talked about the Flap procedure, I thought all of my prayers had been answered. However, it still was not that easy. Dr. Fleming told me that my balding pattern had not settled and he wouldn’t touch me for another year and a half! Didn’t he know I was desperate? Didn’t he know he could benefit financially from me? The answer to both questions was yes. He did know. He also knew that I would not get the best result possible unless I waited. So wait I did. Now, at the ripe old age of 26, I sport a complete head of my own hair! I’m thrilled with the results. I couldn’t be happier. When the bandages were taken off, I could immediately see the thickness of my hair. I just sat there playing with it, trying different styles, washing it and combing it. It was wonderful and it was all mine.

I can’t thank Dr. Fleming enough for giving this back to me, or the staff for the support they gave me. During that time, I also confided to Dr. Fleming that I had endured several nose surgeries by a less than qualified surgeon. Several years earlier I underwent surgery to correct a bulbous tip. Instead of the aesthetic improvement I had hoped for, my nose became crooked and I couldn’t breathe. While most people have surgery to correct a deviated septum, I ended up with one after surgery. The same surgeon performed a second surgery, which only made matters worse. On the other hand, Dr. Fleming cleared the scar tissue that obstructed my breathing and straightened the jagged appearance of my nose. Thanks to a complete nose reconstruction, my initial expectation was finally met and I can breathe a sigh of relief!
