In most women, the labia minora are seen only when the legs are separated. However, in some women, large labia minora are visible when the legs are not apart, or are barely separated. This can cause embarrassment, self-consciousness, and distance in relationships. Enlarged labia may also be noticeable in tight fitting pants, and can cause discomfort during intercourse or with exercise.
Enlarged labia are usually congenital but may be increased from hormonal changes or childbirth. The labiaplasty procedure contours and sculpts the labia, improves functionality and quality of life. As a woman, Dr. Lee understands her clients’ desire to look and feel their best, from head to toe. She delivers beautiful, nuanced results that are highly personalized to your express wishes and goals.
Dr. Lee utilizes a technique of labia minora reduction (labiaplasty), which preserves the contour, color, and anatomy of the labia minora edge. The excess labium is excised in a "V" manner and the upper and lower edges are sutured together. Therefore, the only suture line visible on the edge is a small transverse line instead of a long longitudinal vertical suture line. This significantly decreases the discomfort and visibility of the procedure.
“Dr. Lee was incredibly friendly and thorough. She is a true artist and has completely changed my figure and my vision of myself. If you want a huge confidence boost go see her, you will not be disappointed. Would highly recommend her to family and friends.”
There is not one ideal standard for the female labia.
However, labiaplasty is one of the fastest growing procedures in plastic surgery. The most common requests for shaping the labia are:
Patients with the following characteristics may be good candidates for the procedure:
Thanks to Dr. Lee’s cutting edge, conservative techniques, most patients will find their recovery to be swift and without incident. Healing typically lasts up to two weeks, with swelling, tenderness and pain gradually subsiding. We recommend that patients take off 7 days from work and refrain from heavy exercise, intercourse, smoking and drinking alcohol for 3-6 weeks.
Pain is usually controlled by narcotics for the first several days and then ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil etc.) after that. You will receive an aftercare plan with detailed instructions tailored to your personal needs prior to any PERK procedure. Dr. Lee commonly performs this procedure with other procedures, such as breast augmentation or abdominoplasty.
